My diabetes doctor began suggesting I take statins earlier this year. I told her I’d like to try doing it through diet and exercise first. March to June there was very little improvement. So I buckled down after she told me she didn’t want to hear about my having a heart attack because I hadn’t taken statins…
So, through diet, lifestyle changes, and kayaking regularly for my exercise, four months later, on October 22, 2019 my efforts were validated. My overall cholesterol went from 285 in March to 240. All the other numbers improved accordingly. In seven total months.
I tell anyone you cannot undo 40 years of bad food choices overnight. And not just food, but everything. It’s all connected. Which is exactly why I did not want to introduce pharma into this situation, if I could help it. And I did help it! I don’t see her again for a few more months and I cannot wait to see further improvement. Even this small success has given me the confidence and integrity to make better choices about what I eat. So I’m fairly positive I’ll see even more improvement in my numbers and overall health. I just feel better. Who can argue with that?
